Getting started with TM

On Monday you play national cup matches if you are still in the tournament. Tuesday your players get the weekly training update and receive their skill changes for the week. International Club competitions are also played on Tuesday. Wednesday sees you play a league match.

On Thursday your economy is summed up and updated for the week. On Friday you play another league match. On Saturday you can promote players from your youth set-up. NT games are also scheduled for Saturdays. Internationals are scheduled to take place on Saturdays when they are implemented.

Finally on Sunday you play yet another league match. Congratulations with your brand new club and welcome to Trophy Manager. At last it has become your turn to put together the next Dream Team, the next Galacticos and conquer the international football world. Apply your football philosophy, deploy wise, thought-through tactics and lead your team towards the stars!

The Manual
This is the complete TM User Guide. Here you will find the answers to most of your questions when you start playing, and it is here you can expand your knowledge on TM when you have become a more experienced manager. The user guide gives both the easy-peasy and the more thorough answers to all your questions regarding TM.

The Rules
Remember to read the rules of Trophy Manager before digging into the game (the next part of the user guide). The rules state the absolute don'ts of TM, and if you break the rules you can find yourself the owner of a deleted club - not a lot of fun eh? So read the rules, they are there so that everyone can play the game and have fun :)

The Forum
We encourage everyone playing TM to chech out the [tmforum]. The [tmforum] is a good place to ask silly questions, discuss tactics and at the same time the only place you can make your voice heard on the development of the game. Trophy Manager is your game too, and the forum is the place where we would love to hear all your wild, silly and/or good ideas!

SQUAD & TACTICS

The Players
When you receive your first team, you'll have twentytwo players in your squad. You can check your players by clicking 'Squad' in the menu. Here you can get an overview of your players' names, age and skills.

Choosing a Line-up
What happens if I do not login and choose my line-up? Trophy Manager has a function called the automatic assistant coach. The automatic assistant coach is your assistant, and he makes decisions regarding your line-up when you are not around to do so. In other words you wont be left trailing in your league with 9 players in your line-up, if you don't log into TM more than twice a week - The assistant assures that you can lower your level of activity without being hit too hard.

When you want to choose your line-up in Trophy Manager choose 'Squad' from the menu and click [SET] to insert a specific player into your line-up. When you do so a miniature football pitch will pop up and let you place the selected player in the desired position with just one click.

Player Position Abbrivations
In TM the players' positions are given as abbrevations of two to four letters. The first part of the abbrevation tells you which 'chain' the player belongs to:

D, as in DC, DR and DL, means defender.
DM, as in DMC, DMR and DML, means wing back (DMR/DML) or defensive midfielder (DMC).
M, as in MC, MR and ML, means midfielder
OM , as in OMC, OMR and OML, means wing or offensive midfielder
F (FC) means forward/striker.

The second part of the abbrevation tells you which side of the pitch the player prefers to play in: L means left, C means central and R means right. A player who has been put in charge of covering the position DR therefore is a defender (D) who plays in the right side of the pitch (R) - eg. a right full back. Another example: A player earns his living as an OMC, which of course means cetral (C) offensive midfielder (OM).

Substitutes
Also Remember to equip your team with substitutes. In TM the five subs cover specific positions according to the following:

Sub1 is your reserve GK.
Sub2 covers the positions DL, DC and DR.
Sub3 covers the positions DMC, MC, OMC.
Sub4 is the substitute winger and covers the positions DML, DMR, ML, MR, OML and OMR.
Sub5 stands ready to substitute your FC(s).

You can check the skills of your players by choosing 'Squad' from the menu. All skill levels range from 1-20, where 1 is a catastrophe and 20 is world class. As you may already have noticed some players have a star instead of a skills level listed in the skills table. A star simply means 20, which is the highest skill level that can be achieved in TM. When a player reaches level 20 in a certain skill he can't get any better at that particular skill. If a skill point is allocated to a skill which is already at level 20 the skill point will be distributed randomly amongst the player's other skills. You can read more about each individual skill below.

Auto Assistant Coach
When you've chosen your starting eleven and your subs you are ready for your first match! If, for some reason, you are not able to log on to TM before a game, your rather dim-witted assistant coach will take a pic from your squad. Needless to say isn't half as good at choosing a starting lineup as you, but he prevents you from attending matches with fewer than 16 players as long as you have got 16 players available at any given time

Player Stats

If you want to review or compare your players' performances choose 'Squad' followed by 'Teamstats' from the menu. At this page you can browse through your players' season stats along with their stats for the entire time they've existed in TM. If you want more information on what the different stats-categories mean, just point your mouse at the abbrevation you want to know more about, or consult the following short summary. Here's the summary:
