What is Popomundo?
Popomundo is an online roleplaying game and community where the players strive for fame in a virtual music industry. The game is played in real time and the game keeps on going even when you're not logged on.
Popomundo is not a traditional video game with animated graphics and sound. It's more of a imaginative management game and playful community where you log on a couple of times a week to work on your career.
You never play against the computer. All characters you encounter in the game are played by real people across the globe.
Does Popomundo cost anything to play?
No. Popomundo is absolutely free of charge.
What do I need to play the game?
The whole game is played through your internet browser. So if you can read this you already have all the stuff you need to play the game. The registration process require you to have a valid email adress however.
How do I register to play?
Registering is fast and simple. Just click on the link "Join Here" in the menu above. We will ask you for your name, email, and which language you wish to play the game in. That's all! You'll be able to play as soon as you've filled in this information.
Your Character
Your character is the most important element of the game. If your character isn't doing well, everything you do in the game will suffer for it. It's your main playing piece, so take good care of it.
Character Attributes
Your attributes are the things that make up your character's personality and physique in the game. As you play the game, you will be awarded experience points that you can use to improve your attributes. The game is designed so that it is very difficult, if not impossible, to perfect all your attributes before the character has grown old and died.
All attributes are equally important to your character. It's up to you which aspects of the roleplaying experience you wish to focus on. It's up to you to decide which tools you will use to make your way to the top.
Listed here are the five basic attributes in the game:
| Charm: | This attribute is good for everyone who likes to mingle and get ahead in life by fraternizing with the other characters. Charm also helps your performance on stage. |
| Looks: | Your looks (or lack thereof) determine how well you're received by fans, critics, and lovers. Sad but true in the real world. Equally sad and true in here. |
| Intelligence: | Your intelligence helps you study, learn new things, and cope with the unknown. |
| Vocals: | Your vocal attribute determines just how good of a singer you are. |
| Musicality: | This attribute makes up the basis for all your creative efforts in the game. You won't do very well as a songwriter without this one. |
Health and Mood
Your character have two main meters telling you how it's doing. The first meter is the Mood Meter: this tells you how happy your character is. The second is the Health Meter: this tells you how healthy your character is.
If either of these two meters go below 20% of their maximum your character is rushed to a nearby hospital and will remain there, unable to leave, until it has recovered enough health or happiness to lead a normal life. Serious neglect of your character's health or state of mind could result in drastic consequences. Your character could die if you're extremely careless.
So what do you do to improve your health or spirits? Most things you do in the game will affect your health and mood. Some of them will be out of your control and some won't. You can set your character's priorities by clicking on "Priorities & Skills" on your character page and selecting how you want your character to spend its time.
Useful hints for keeping your health and mood high:
• Make sure you have a place to stay, or money for hotels.
• Make sure you're at the gym when working out.
• Rest, relax, and go shopping once in a while.
