Resources
In Battle Dawn there are 4 resources:
1.Metal
2.Oil
3.Energy
4.Food & Workers
Food is a different from the others in the way it's used. Population is the combination of food and the amount of workers you have. There is a cap / max on all resources: 10,000 for metal and oil, 500 for energy. The cap on metal and oil can be increased if you become a supporter.
Crystals & Relics aren't normally classed as resources. For more details, see Relics & Crystals.
Metal
1.Metal is used for building:
a.Structures
b.Military
c.Outposts
d.Nukes
2.Metal is produced by structures, taxation, and workers.
3.You can also trade metal with alliance members.
4.Metal can be salvaged after a battle.
5.You can only store 10,000 of metal; when you reach this amount your workers will stop the production.
Oil
1.Oil is used for building:
a.Structures
b.Military
c.Outposts
d.Training Base
e.Moving your squads around.
f.Relocating your Colony.
2.Oil is produced by structures, taxation, and workers.
3.OYou can also trade oil among alliance members.
4.You can only store 10,000 of oil; when you reach this amount your workers will stop the production.
Energy
1.Energy is used for various technology based applications.
2.Once you have built the required structures, energy can be used for:
a.Scans.
b.Spies & Covert Ops.
c.Teleportation using your Teleport Gate.
d.Delaying attacks with your Shield Generator.
e.Firing your Ion Cannon.
f.To broadcast messages.
g.Trade between allies but can not be traded itself.
3.Energy can only be produced by your structures.
4.A maximum of up to 500 Energy can be stored at one time.
Food & Workers
Food and workers tie in together. Both affect your population.
Food
1.Food is used to maintain your military and increase the number of workers you have.
2.Food is produced by structures, taxation, and workers.
3.Unlike metal or oil, it cannot be traded and it isn't shown in the resource bar. Workers come from your food and are shown in the resource bar. Food and Workers both affect your Population.
Workers
1.Workers are used for training military units and building outposts.
2.Workers also affect how much food, metal, and oil you produce each tick.
3.The more workers a colony has, the more resources that colony will get & the higher the population.
4.Workers can be killed if you lose a battle for your colony or by spy action "Poison Enemy Water"
5.If you have insufficient food to maintain your military units, they (units) will be reverted back to workers until you can produce enough food to sustain them
